Russell N. Wiles

Russell N. Wiles, 92, of Van Wert passed away Saturday morning at Van Wert Health.

He was born on September 15, 1927, in Alberton, Maryland the son of the late Wilbur and Esther (Green) Wiles. On December 8, 1973, he married the former Penilipe “Penny” Pease who survives.

Other family members include his six children, Rosie Wiles of Maryland, Robert Wiles of Maryland, Charles (Gay) Wiles of Van Wert, Reva (Ricky) Mayne of Tennessee, Cathy Wiles of Virginia, and Jackie Wiles of Kentucky; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Besides his parents, Russell was preceded in death by three children, John Wiles, Vonsettia Wiles, and Luda Wilson; fifteen brothers and sister; and a grandson, Jason Wiles.

Russell retired from Taylor Products in Payne. He was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Van Wert. His favorite hobby was playing Santa Claus for area families and responding to children’s phone calls to Santa.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2020, at Pentecostal Bethleham Tabernacle, 540 Burt Street, Van Wert with Rev. Russell Lawrence officiating. Calling will be held one hour prior to the service also at the Tabernacle.
