Refa M. Mohr

Refa M. Mohr, 99, formerly of Convoy, died at 6:05 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Van Wert Health.

She was born on January 8, 1921, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Walter and Bessie (Baxter) Ryan. She first married Lowell B. Pifer who died in 1960. She then married Edwin Beatty who also preceded her in death. She then married Paul George Mohr who died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James J. Ryan and Louis J. Ryan.

Family survivors include her son Erick G. Pifer of Holland, Michigan; a daughter, Bonnie L. (John) Morell of Park Ridge, Illinois; four grandchildren, Andrew Pifer, Abigail Pifer, Robert Morell and Julie Greve; three great grandchildren, Alexis, Paige and Lyla Greve; a sister, Marilyn Reed of Convoy; and two step-children, Dr. Myron G. Mohr of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Cheryl (Leonard) Johnson of Van Wert.

Refa was a 1939 graduate of Tully-Convoy High School where she was on the basketball team. She was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church where she was active in the women’s groups. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Refa had worked early on at the Pifer Café in Convoy, then for many years at Central Mutual Insurance.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2020, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Calling hours are 12 noon to time of service on Saturday.

Preferred memorials are to the Convoy United Methodist Church.
