Eloise Mae (Kreischer) Biro of rural Van Wert passed away at 7:55 a.m., Sunday at Vancrest of Van Wert.
Eloise was born in Van Wert on May 18, 1933, to Leroy Kreischer and Sarah (Gribler) Kreischer. She married Michael Biro, Jr., on September 15, 1956 in St. Paul's E & R Church in Harrison Township, Van Wert County.
Eloise graduated from Wren High School and Heidelberg College. She was active in 4-H and the Junior Fair Board while in high school. She taught Home Economics at Mount Blanchard High School for 2 years. She did substitute teaching for many years and took retraining in elementary education at Wright State and Bowling Green State Universities. Eloise taught second grade at Crestview South until it closed, then she taught one year in the new Crestview Elementary, retiring in 1993. She was elected into the Crestview Educators Hall of Fame in 2019.
She was member of St. Pauls Reformed Church in America where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was member of the Women's Fellowship. She had been a member of the Wren Garden Club.
Eloise and Mike were married 63 years. They are the parents of Patricia (Bruce) Taylor, Michael L. (Laura) Biro and Angela (Jeff) Harmon, deceased. They have eight grandchildren -Craig Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Caci Murphy, Michael C. (Karli) Biro, Derek Biro, Joshua (Cassandra) Harmon, Alison (Tony) Springer and Jacob Harmon. There are six great-grandchildren, Lela Murphy, Cooper and Barrett Harmon, Cal and Gia Eloise Springer and Zayn Taylor. Also surviving are her sister Donna (Bud) Githens, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Rex, her sister Nancy (Allen) Etzler and Mildred (Jim) Baxter, her daughter Angela Harmon and her granddaughter Beth Taylor.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2020 at St. Pauls Reformed Church in America, Harrison Township, Van Wert County. Burial will follow at the Evangelical Protestant Cemetery next to the church. Calling hours are on 2 - 8 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2020 at 2- 8 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the Church
Preferred memorials are to Sarah Jane Living Center or Community Health Professionals.
