Ellen S. (Barnes) Boroff

Ellen Sue Boroff, 64, of Van Wert passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio and is reunited with her dog Queenie. 

Ellen was born on June 14, 1959 in Lima, Ohio to the late Gerald Raymond Barnes and Donelda (Lawrence) Barnes. She married Richard L. Boroff, Jr. on June 21, 1974, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2018.

Ellen is survived by her three children: Jason (Crystal) Boroff of Ohio City, Nicholas Boroff of Coldwater, and Kelly (Erica) Boroff, of Van Wert; nine grandchildren: Celsesa (Chanse) Ebel, Caylee Boroff, Carli (Drew Wannemacher) Boroff of Van Wert, and Cylee Boroff of Ohio City; Madison and Xander Boroff of St. Mary’s, Logan and Lexis McDowell of Convoy, Brynn Boroff of Van Wert; four great-grandchildren: Quinleigh and Ellieana Wannemacher of Van Wert, Anika Mault  of Van Wert, and newest member, baby Dean Ebel of Van Wert.  Ellen had three siblings: Ray Barnes of Fort Worth, Texas, RaeJean (Doyle) Driskill, and Jeff (Anna) Barnes of Watauga, Texas; nephews: Brian (Randi) Barnes and Doyle Driskill.

Ellen was an avid Judge Judy fan, loved to play Bingo, and had a love of horses. 

She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Boroff; a sister, Denise (Barnes) Russell and by a niece, Stephanie Etzler.

The family is requesting casual dress for the funeral service. Calling hours will be at Cowan Funeral Home, Van Wert on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., and funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., with Brian Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
