Charles H. Lichtenberger, 91, passed away at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at his home in Wren, Ohio.
He was born on September 26, 1931, in Van Wert County the son of the late Dallas Harold and Nellie Rosetta (Burk) Lichtenberger. On July 1, 1951, he married the former Rose Elaine (Shook) Lichtenberger who also preceded him in death on August 8, 2013.
Family survivors include his three children, Joanne Shinnaberry (Wendel Ralston) of Van Wert, Lois (Tod) Waltz of Van Wert and Gary (Gayle) Lichtenberger of Decatur, Indiana; a brother, John S. (Martha Wilma) Lichtenberger of Wren; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel E. Lichtenberger and Donald E. Lichtenberger.
Charles attended the Wren United Brethern Church. He worked at Pennsylvania Railroad as a tower operator for 12 years, Decatur Casting for 31 years, and was a dedicated volunteer on the Wren Fire Department for 53 years. Charles enjoyed the many spring breaks camping with his family.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2023, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Shook and Pastor Steve Haddix officiating. Interment will follow at Greenbrier Cemetery in Willshire Township. Calling hours are 2 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 and 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday before the service.
