Betty Jane Shook

Betty Jane Shook, 95, of Van Wert passed away at 7:35 a.m., Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Van Wert Manor.

She was born on December 31, 1924, in Van Wert the daughter of the late Fred and Bernadine (Buecker) Tangeman. On June 27, 1947, she married Arthur LeRoy Shook who died on January 28, 2016. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Anthony F. Tangeman, Dorothy Conrad, a brother and sister in infancy.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karan Ann (James) Ottenweller of Convoy and a brother, Alfred Tangeman of Van Wert.

She was a 1943 graduate of Van Wert High School. She was a long time member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday School for 25 years, was active in the Piecemakers quilting group and the Eunice Circle and was always helping as an usher and greeter and in the church office and kitchen. Betty and Art enjoyed their times of traveling throughout the United States.

Preferred memorials are to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
