William Russell Burk, 68, of Ohio City and formerly of Van Wert, died at 9:30 a.m., Thursday at the St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima following a battle with cancer. Her was born on May 5, 1946, in Van Wert to the late Russell A. And Minnie E. (Wooderson) Burk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Family survivors include his son, Shawn (Renee) Burk of Ohio City; one daughter, Christina (Mark) Nowak of Grover Hill; six grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Evans, Kimberly Dudas, Jayson Nowak, Steven Burk, Rebecca Burk and Megan Slusser; three great grandchildren; a sister, DeeAnn Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was a 1965 graduate of Van Wert High School. He had been employed at Decatur Casting for 27 years and later at Securitas. He was an avid CB'er with the handle "Swamp Fox." Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the Family or the Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses.
