Wayne H. Sidle, 83, of Van Wert, died at 6:52 p.m., Monday at the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home. He was born on April 24, 1930, in Van Wert, the son of the late Lee Clair and Grace Elizabeth (Mongold) Sidle. On August 29, 1954, he married the former Carol J. Phelps who survives. Other family members include his daughter, Diane L. (David) Morris of Venedocia; his son, Ronald W. Sidle of West Liberty, Ohio; one sister, Nellita N. (Carl) Reidenbach of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Leah (Mike) Keysor, Marie (Phillip) Winfield, Noel (Kayla) Morris, Ethan, Anne, and Olivia Morris; and 10 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Oswin and Lowell Sidle. Wayne was a 1948 graduate of Van Wert High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a supply sergeant at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He retired from Federal Mogul in 1990, as a quality control technician with 40 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gus Christo-Baker and Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Calling hours are Friday 2 - 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to the First United Methodist Church Food Bank, the Salvation Army or the donor's choice.
