Wanda B. Grant, 95, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and formerly of Liberty Township, died at 3:33 a.m., Saturday at the Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. She was born on July 21, 1919, in Liberty Township, the daughter of the late Perry Franklin and Edith Wilma (High) Sidle. She married Robert Eugene Grant on August 16, 1941 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2008. Family survivors include her two daughters, Beverly Grant of Ft. Lauderdale and Brenda (Douglas) Grant-Peterson of North Platte, NE; one grandson, Curtis (Amy) Rogers of Lincoln, NE; one granddaughter, Sherri (Joe) Woody of Las Vegas, NV; and two great grandchildren, Aleni and Elijah Rogers both of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Sue Rogers; two brothers, Paul Hoyt Sidle and Harold William Sidle; and two sisters, Treva Mae Tickle and Joan Smalley. Wanda attended school at Ohio City-Liberty School and graduated in the class of 1937. She also attended and graduated from Betty Jean Cosmetologist School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She was a member of the Ohio City United Church for over 70 years, where she had been a teacher in the Junior Sunday School, had served on Church Council, Social Concerns Committee, member of the Choir, member of United Methodist Women which she served as president, and attended the Prayer Fellowship and served as secretary-treasurer. Wanda was a charter member and had served as president of the Town and Country Extension Club. She was a 4-H advisor for five years. She was a member of the former Liberty Grange #2562 and served as Juvenile Matron. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary #346, Ohio City and had served as president, 2nd vice president and Americanism chairperson. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City United Methodist Church.
