Verda C. Everett, 92, died at 11:13 a.m., Wednesday, at her residence in Van Wert. She was born on October 19, 1920 in Rice County, Kansas, the daughter of the late Carl and Lyvia (Sewing) Winkleman. On January 1,1946, she married Carl J. Everett and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1985. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Laverne, Lovell, Ralph, Maurice, and Stephen Winkleman and one sister, Doris Rice. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Verda was a homemaker and farm wife. She was an active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Van Wert and the Ladies' Guild as well as the Wren Garden Club. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Zielinski officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Emanuel Lutheran Church.
