Vera M. Pruden, 92 of rural Rockford, Ohio, died at 8:26 a.m., Friday July 24, 2015 at the Laurels of Shane Hill near Rockford. She was born on November 11, 1922 in Schumm, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alfred Lawrence "Jack" and Viola Henrietta (Reidenbach) Handwerk. On February 11, 1965, she Glenn Gaylord Pruden, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2001. Vera retired from Borden's in Van Wert and was a farm wife. She was a member of the Ohio City Community Church of God. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry (Billie) Handwerk of Ridgeville, Indiana; step daughter, Ruth (Carl) Lape of Van Wert; step son, John (Helen) Pruden of rural Rockford; one sister, Donna M. Taylor of Venice, Florida; and four grandchildren, Heather Debolt, Julie West, Cindy Foster, and Tim Johnson. She was preceded in death by her brother Doyle Lester Handwerk; a sister Anna Lucille Eber; and step-son, William Pruden. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 27, 11:00 a.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 9-11 a.m. Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City Community Church of God.
