Sylvia K. Davis, 70, died at 5:57 p.m., Tuesday at her residence in Van Wert. She was born on November 21, 1944, in Jellico, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Alfred and Dessie (Murray) Stokes. On July 15, 1984, she married Dennis Davis who survives in Van Wert. Other family members include, one son, Darrin Day of Sidney, Ohio; one daughter, Denesa Goings of Sidney; a brother, Stanley (Glenda) Stokes of New Haven, IN; a sister, Sandra Allen of Jellico, TN; twelve grandchildren, Ryan Dempsey, Destiny Goings, Kyle Goings, Tyler Goings, Daniel Goings, Andrea (Drew) Spurgeon, Nathan and Dailan Day, Saxxon Burtuss, Amanda (Ted) Day-Lichtenberg, Amber and Deanna Day; four great grandchildren; and a special friend, Penny Wiles of Van Wert. Sylvia was retired from the Convoy Care Center. Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2015, at the Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Lawrence officiating. Calling hours are 1 - 3 p.m., on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Thomas Edison School in Van Wert.
