Sigrid Ehmer, 74, of Van Wert, died at 4 a.m., Tuesday at the Mayfair Village Nursing Care Center in Columbus. She was born on November 7, 1941, in East Prussia, German, the daughter of the late Emil and Emmi (Achenbach) Kuknat. On May 6, 1961, she married Louis J. Ehmer, who died on Oct. 15, 2015. Family survivors include her son, Eric L. Ehmer of Columbus; a daughter, Laura S. (Jason) Riley of Georgetown, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Will and Jack Riley; and close family friend, Brenda Marbaugh. Sigrid had worked as a waitress at Balyeats Restaurant and as a cashier at Save A Lot grocery. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy and the German Club. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Saylor officiating. Interment will follow at Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery south of Convoy. Calling hours are Friday 11 a.m. until time of service. Preferred memorials are to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Convoy.
