Shirley A. Flickinger, 85 of Van Wert passed away at Van Wert Health on Sunday, July 10, 2022.

She was born on November 6, 1936 in Van Wert, Ohio to the late Harland Howard Kiracofe and Margaret E. (Bolenbaugh) Kiracofe. On May 15, 1965, she married John C. Flickinger and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1993.

Family survivors include, Rita A. (Richard) Carter of Van Wert, Ray A. Hire of Convoy, Connie S. (Gary) Kreischer of Convoy, Karen R. Ladd of Ottoville, Kelly J. (Candy) Hire of Van Wert, Kristine K. (Kevin Fisher) Hegemier of Van Wert, Michael J. (Alana) Flickinger of Venedocia, Ricky L. Flickinger of Decatur, IN, and  Connie M. Bird of Celina; thirty-five grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; one brother, Larry Kiracofe of Van Wert; two sisters, Brenda (Cecil) Foust and Judy M. Foust both of Convoy.

Shirley was a graduate of Convoy-Union High School. She started out as a teacher's aide at Lincolnview Elementary and then became the elementary secretary and retired after 30 ½  years there. She loved doing ancestry and had many, many pictures that she liked organizing and putting in photo albums, especially to give to all her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her two children, Deborah K. Dickerhoof and John C. Flickinger, Jr.; two brothers, Bruce Kiracofe and Ronald Dale Kiracofe (in infancy) and one sister, Margie Joann Darling.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Cowan & Son Funeral Home from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with one hour of calling ahead of services on Thursday with Rev. Gerald Baker officiating. Interment will take place at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
