Sara L. Green, 73, of Van Wert, died at 8:47 a.m., Wednesday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert. She was born on October 5, 1941, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late John R. and Evelyn G. (Dickey) Agler. On December 23, 1963, she married Earl F. Green who survives in Van Wert. Other family members include her two daughters, Vicki L. (Brent) Stevens of Constatine, MI and Kristina L. (Matthew) Ward of Lima; one sister, Evelyn Joann Burleson of Cedar Lake, IN; two grandchildren, Ashley Alexic (Josh) Eby and Taylor Ann (Ben) Gudbrandson; and two great grandchildren, Alexander and Emerson Eby. Sara was a 1959 graduate of Van Wert High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 at Bowling Green State University. She was a member and former deaconess at the First Presbyterian Church. She had been an elementary school teacher for over 34 years, with most of her years at Van Wert City Schools' Franklin Elementary School. She had served as a board member of the Wassenberg Art Center and was a member of the TWIG of Van Wert County Hospital, volunteering many hours at the Hospital Thrift Shop. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, active in the Ohio Education Association and the local teachers union. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Shafer officiating. Calling hours will be 1 - 3 p.m. on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
