Ruth L. Stewart, 99, of Grover Hill, died on May 31, 2015, at the VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was born on July 18, 1915, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Lehr and Nora (Stemen) McCracken. She married Lloyd Stewart on January 16, 1937, and he preceded her in death. Ruth was a 1933 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School. She was a housewife and affiliated with the former Mt. Pleasant Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Hoaglin Jackson Sunrise Club, the Farm Bureau, and the Van Wert County Hospital Lady Board of Managers. She is survived by two sons, Carl (Diane) Stewart of Van Wert and Eddie (Judy Wyse, special friend) Stewart of Middle Point; five grandchildren, Shelley (Denny) Mumaw, Scott Stewart, Gary (Mel) Stewart, Lynn (Julie) Stewart and Nicole (Matt) McConnahea; seven great-grandchildren, Arianna Allgire, Torie Allgire, Curtis Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Casey Stewart, Marshall and Logan McConnahea; a step great granddaughter, Aubrey Fraker; and a great great granddaughter, Layla Trotter. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and William McCracken and two sisters, Claribel DuVall and Mary Pohlman. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2 - 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the Grover Hill E.M.S.
