Ruth M. Reed, 97, of Grover Hill, OH, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. Ruth was born to William H. and Hazel (Farling) Ries, January 8, 1918 in their log home located in York Township, Van Wert County, Ohio. She had attended International Business College in Fort Wayne. Ruth had worked at General Electric in Cleveland and Central Mutual Insurance in Van Wert, but was a farm wife and homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards with the Roselms Card Club. She is survived by her sister, Margaret (Ries) Springer of Sun City, FL; daughter, Carolyn (Reed) Pruden of Grover Hill, OH; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-children; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and 3 great- great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer J. Reed; daughter, Marilyn (Reed) Lockie; a son, Douglas Reed; one sister, Wanda Olive Prior; and three brothers, William Samuel Ries, Paul Edward Ries , and Robert Wayne Ries. Funeral services are scheduled at 2pm Friday July 3rd at the Zion United Methodist Church in Grover Hill, OH, officiated by Jack Fetter, director of Fetter & Friends Ministry and close friend of the family. Interment is at Middle Creek Cemetery in Washington Township, Paulding County. Visitation is scheduled for 2-4 pm and 6-8pm Thursday July 2nd at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, 616 S. Washington St, Van Wert and 2 hours ahead of the service Friday at the church. Memorials are to the Zion United Methodist Church, Grover Hill.
