Obituary

Russell J. Linton, 89, of Liberty Township, died at 6:10 p.m., Monday at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 4, 1923, in York Township, the son of the late Marion Russell and Marguerite Kathryn (Reed) Linton. On April 9, 1944, he married the former Flora Mae Stemen who survives. Other family members include two sons, Larry (Susan) Linton of Van Wert and Terry (Marsha) Linton of Coldwater, Michigan; two daughters, Kathryn Russell of Houston, Texas and Pamela Army of Ohio City; three brothers, Lewis (Betty) Linton of Van Wert, Paul (Rita) Linton of Celina and John (Karen) Linton of Van Wert; one sister, Elenora Rank of South Bend, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Reed Linton and a sister, Mary Alice Thomas. Russell of a graduate of York High School and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a retired farmer and had worked at Unverferth Mfg., in Kalida and drove motor homes for Fleetwood in Decatur for 13 years. He was a member of the Ohio City United Methodist Church. He was a member of Eureka Lodge 592, F. & A.M. He greatly loved fishing. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 16, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 346 of Ohio City. Calling hours are Thursday 4 - 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday. Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City United Methodist Church.
