Roger D. Oglesbee, 66, of Celina and formerly of Van Wert, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Friday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on November 20, 1946, in Paulding County, the son of the late William Emerson and Rosemary (Webster) Oglesbee. On October 2, 1970, he married the former Mary Ellen (Helton) who preceded him in death on April 23, 2012. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Billy Oglesbee. Family survivors include five children, Roger Oglesbee, Jr., of Celina, Beverly (Rick) Boroff of Van Wert, Cheryl Howell of Van Wert, Lusinda (Rick) Simpkins, of Elida, and Phillip (Cindy) Howell of Streetsbrough, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Ethan & Evan Oglesbee, Hillary (Bill) Steiger, Matt (Kari) Rodriguez, Danielle (Kevin) Longstreth, Terra Howell, Tori Simpkins, Breanna (Blaine) Dennis, Sarah Aurand, and Morgan Felger; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ann Rockwell of Traverse City, Michigan. Roger was a graduate of Lincolnview High School. He was owner and mechanic of Oglesbee's Align & Auto Repair; retiring in 2006. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Ohio National Guard. He attended First United Brethren in Christ Church in Van Wert, Ohio and later St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Celina. He enjoyed fishing with family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jodi Harr officiating. Burial will follow in Van Wert Woodland Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the combined honor guard of the American Legion and V.F.W. Post of Van Wert. Calling hours are Sunday 1 - 5 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Monday. Preferred memorials are to the First United Brethern Church or the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center.
