Roger D. Finger, 78, of Van Wert, passed away at 5:17 a.m., Saturday at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima. He was born on April 10, 1938, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Wilber and Lucille (Gusler) Finger. On June 15, 1973, he married the former Nita Felger who survives. Other family members include his four children, Kerri (Dennis) Kiracofe of Van Wert, Robert (Staci) Finger of Fort Wayne, Roger Finger, Jr., of Fort Wayne, and Becke (Ben) Booher of Van Wert; a brother, Gordon (Doris) Finger of Van Wert, Ohio; his grandchildren, Dennis (Jess) Kiracofe, Jr., Jeremy Finger, Saundra (Nicole) Marquart, Courtney (Bart) Barthels, Braeden Booher, Breese Booher; and six great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen King and a grand daughter, Rachel Kiracofe. Roger was a 1956 graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post #178, Van Wert and member of the American Legion Riders. He was also a member of AmVets Post 698 of Middle Point and the Navy Club. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the American Legion Post at 631 W. Main Street in Van Wert.
