Obituary

Richard Rex Potter, 69, passed away Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., at the Van Wert County Hospital. He was born March 6, 1944 in Mansfield, the son of the late Olden Rex and Betty Jean (Herman) Potter. On May 24, 1963, he married the former Nancy Maag who survives. Other family survivors include his children R. Brian (Julie) Potter of Plymouth, Michigan, Jill (Larry) Hoverman of Van Wert, Michael (Michelle) Potter of Albuquerque, NM and Heather (Thomas) Riggenbach of Van Wert; eleven grandchildren, Nick and Kathryn Potter; Ashtin, Danielle and Brittany Hoverman; Jasmine O'Kelley; Emily, Alexis and Taylor Potter; Mackenzie, Tyler and Noah Riggenbach; one great grandson, Kayden Rogers; two brothers, Robert (Theresa) Potter of Marion, Ohio and Garry (Jerri) Potter of Crestline, California; and one sister, Judy (Ken) Cameron of Pottsboro, Texas. Dick was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church where he had served as Elder, president of the Builders Sunday School class for many years and served on other various committees. He was a graduate of Ontario High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 - 1966. He owned & operated Molly's Restaurant in Van Wert, then retired from Vantage Career Center where he was an instructor in food service and later the coordinator of adult programs. Services are to be scheduled at a later date. A memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert, with Pastor Clark Williman officiating. Calling hours are 2 - 7 p.m., on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Cowan & Son Funeral Home.
