Ralph Edwin Wood, 76, passed away at 9:40 p.m., Saturday at his residence in Van Wert. He was born on October 17, 1939, in Wabash, Indiana, the son of the late Charles Wood and Alice (Hawley) Wright. On June 3, 1991, he married the former Gloria S. Hurless who survives. Other family members include his five children, Jeff (Kim) Wood of Brownsburg, IN, David (Connie) Wood of Van Wert, Christopher Merle Wood of Van Wert, Jennifer Lynn Wood of Van Wert and Kendra (Kevin) Papke of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Lindsey Marie Wood, Kayla Papke, Kevin Papke, Gracie Wood and Avan Torres; a sister, Vicki Hatcher of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Wanda (Gary) Baker of Van Wert; and special friend, Kelli Knapke of Van Wert. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Ronnie, Sheila, and Tracy Lynn and a brother, Charles Wood. Ralph was a truck drive for Conrad Trucking. He was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Indianapolis Colts, and NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon. Services will be held at 5 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at a late date at Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 2 - 5 p.m., at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Family.
