Paul D. Schaadt, 81 of rural Van Wert, died at 9:17 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016 at the C.H.P.- Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio. He was born on December 29, 1934 in Harrison Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Herbert L. and Laura M. (Kreischer) Schaadt. On April 26, 1959, he married the former Ellen M. Muntzinger, who survives at the residence. He was a retired farmer in Pleasant and Harrison Township for 46 years. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, and former choir member. He was a 1952 graduate of Convoy High School and a U.S. Army veteran at the end of the Korean Conflict. He was a director and former president of the Convoy Equity; president of the Convoy Sports Center; coached baseball; was a avid bowler. He loved to coon hunt and mushroom hunt and was an avid OSU and Crestview Knight fan. Family survivors include his wife Ellen; son, Gary W. Schaadt (Jennifer Meggitt) of Convoy; daughter and son-in-law, Marlene M. (Dr. Douglas) Rosen of Charlotte, NC; brother, Robert L. (Donna) Schaadt of Salem South Carolina; sister, Linda (Ned) Springer of Ohio City; and six grandchildren, Zackery & Payton Schaadt, and Avery, Lauryn, Emerson, & Delaney Rosen. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert Schaadt, Jr. & Doyt Schaadt. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, August 29, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, with Pastor Michael Saylor officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 28, 2-7 p.m. and one hour ahead of the service on Monday, all at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Military honors by the combined units of the American Legion and V.F.W., both of Van Wert. Burial will be at the Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in Harrison Township, Van Wert County, Ohio.
