Owen E. Rank, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2013 at 4:56 in the morning surrounded by his family at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on April 20, 1924, in Van Wert, the son of William and Orah (Knittle) Rank. On June 16, 1944, he married the former Mary Gillespie. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last June. He is survived by his wife and children, Phyllis Kochensparger, Ronald (Joan) Rank and Roger (Karen) Rank all of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Bruce (Maralee) Kochensparger, Brenda (Troy) Garrett, Rhonda (Cris) Dannenfelser, Pamela Rank, David (Patty) Rank, Tyler (Beckie) Holdgreve, Holly (Dan) Metzger and Kaleb Rank; and twelve great grandchildren, James Garrett, Beth Garrett, Abby Dannenfelser, Owen Dannenfesler, Delana Rank, Cassidy Rank, Dylan Rank, Adelyn Metzger, Rene Metzger, Emilia Metzger, Lilly Holdgreve and Lila Holdgreve. He was greatly loved by all. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Lewis and a brother, Dale Rank. Dale was a 1942 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime farmer and agent for Ohio Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church and had served on the board of Midwest Electric Cooperative for 28 years. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Kingsley United Methodist Church the corner of Mendon Road and State Route 709. Preferred memorials are to the Kingsley Untied Methodist Church Building Fund or the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
