Opal Colegrove, 78, of Convoy, died at 6:10 a.m., Monday shortly after arrival at Van Wert County Hospital. She was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on February 25, 1936, the daughter of the late David and Catherine (Taylor) Wilson. On March 10, 1956, she married Orbie Melvin Colegrove who preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2003. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Jerry, Clyde, Orville, Earl and James and a sister, Christine. Family members include two daughters, Vickie S. (Dennis) Schulte of Van Wert and James L. (Stuart) Ramos of Convoy; five grandchildren, Denae (Steve) Bishop, Nick (Lindsay) Schulte, Jordan White, Tyler White and Olivia Ramos; two great grandchildren, Jack Bishop and Bella Schutle; three sisters, Jeannie, Ellen and Evie; and a brother, Omar. Opal had been a hostess at the Van Wert McDonald's and had cared for children for several area families. She had attended Jennings Road Church of Christ. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor David Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 4 - 8 p.m., and one prior to the services on Thursday. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
