Olse W. Hernandez, 85, of Van Wert, died at 12:40 p.m., Monday at the Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 17, 1930, in Spanish Lake, Louisiana, the son of the late John and Rose Hernandez. Family survivors include his son, Jim (Marilyn) Hernandez of Van Wert; a daughter, Sherry Hernandez (John Hernandez) of Van Wert; his adopted son, Eric Hernandez; five grandchildren, James W. Hernandez, Jamie Evans (Arthur Shultze), Dwayne Buckner (Amy Good) , Shelia Buckner (Lenny Moore) and Adam Buckner (Cassandra Stine); two step grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Shirey and John (Angela) Lianez; nine great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. Olse was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Continental Can Company (Sonoco) after 41 years of service. Services will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Calling hours are 1 - 5 p.m., on Saturday.
