Obituary

Nell L. Rice, 93 of rural Scott and formerly of Van Wert, died at 8:53 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Lima Convalescent Home in Lima, Ohio. She was born on May 15, 1922 in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of the late Samuel Gilbert and Lina Mae (Handwerk) Grunewald. On January 11, 1947, she married Wayne E. Rice, who preceded her in death on November 18, 1980. Nell was a graduate of York High School; she was a homemaker and active member of the Convoy United Methodist Church; and a member of the Japonica Garden Club in Convoy, Ohio. Famliy survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sally Ann & Mike Leidy of Lima, Ohio; son and daughetr-in-law, Richard E. & Vickie of rural Scott; six grandchildren, William (Dana) Leidy of Lima, Bradie (Ryan) Berry of Marysville, Christopher (Jeanette) Leidy of Findlay, Abby (Alan) Vining of Dayton, Melissa (Jon) Hamber of Vandalia, and Thomas (Megan) Leidy of Lima; seven great grandchldren, and a brother-in-law, Robert L. Rice of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her grandson, James Richard Leidy; and two sisters, Marguerite Marie Harber and Dorothy M. Brown. Funeral services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. William Cronk of Westside United Methodist Church. Visitation is scheduled for one hour ahead of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Blue Creek Cemetery in Blue Creek Township. Paulding County, Ohio.
