Minnie E. Burk, 88, of Van Wert, passed away at 11:37 p.m., Tuesday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on November 9, 1924, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late William Henry and Hattie Emma (Wayman) Wooderson. She married Russell James Burk who preceded her in death on June 14, 1972. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Burk, an infant brother and infant sister. Family survivors include a daughter, Dee Ann Zimmerman of Van Wert; a son, William R. Burk of Van Wert; six grandchildren Steve (Missy) Custer, Robert (Camille) Gonzalez, Jennifer (Andrew L.) Miller, Brian (Penny) Zimmerman, Shawn Burk (fiancee: Renee Catlett) and Christina (Mark) Nowak; eleven great grandchildren, Amanda (Josh) Baker, Hannah Vanette, Ciarra and Robbie Gonzalez, Erica and Jared Miller, Paige Lavan, Brook Zimmerman, Jayson Nowak, Steven and Rebecca Burk; and four great great grandchildren, Alexander, Kaden, Christopher and Zach Baker. Minnie was a 1942 graduate of Van Wert High School. She was a member of the Adams County Coin Club and participated in their weekly flea market for many years. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 19, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Deacon Andy McMahon officiating. Burial will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2 - 5 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
