Marvin Andrew "Jake" Owens, 85, of Monroeville died Thursday, April 19th at Lutheran Hospital in Ft Wayne, Indiana. He was born on January 22, 1933, in Convoy, the son of the late Lyman and Merle (Finkhousen) Owens. On 8-19-53, he married the former Lenore Fay Parnin who survives. Other family survivors include their two children, Jeff (Debbie) Owens of Fancy Gap, VA., and Jason (Karen) Owens of Scipio, IN; four grandchildren, Ben Owens of Ft. Wayne, IN; Rachel Owens of Lexington, KY Lauren Owens of Scipio IN and Ellen Owens also of Scipio; two sisters, Marjorie (Howard) Hoblet and Juanita (Norman) Christian, both of Convoy; and two brothers, Ervin (Iva Lou) Owens of Convoy, and Doyt (Lois) Owens of Convoy. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Waldo Owens, Marlin Owens, Donald Owens and Robert in infancy and one sister, Vivian Bowers. Jake held many supervisory positions at International Harvester and retired in 1984. Jake was an veteran of the U.S. Army, and played basketball on the Army all-star team all over Europe. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and watching sports. Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 28th from 12:00 to 3:00 with Memorial service to follow at Cowan & Son Funeral Home 616 S Washington St, Van Wert, Ohio. Memorial donations in memory of Jake and in honor of Lenore can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
