Marcia L. Sanderson, 79, of Van Wert, passed away at 8:57 p.m., Monday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. She was born on July 27, 1938, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Lamo Byron and Nellie Winona (Hertel) Scheidt. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Thomas Alfred Rauch and two brothers, Gus N. Scheidt and Ned D. Scheidt. Family survivors include her husband, Leo F. Sanderson who she married on February 27, 1959; a son, Mark (Leah) Sanderson of Van Wert; two grandchildren, Cayla (Benji) Wise and Steven (Courtney) Sanderson all of Van Wert; and three great grandchildren, Bella and Piper Wise and Liam Sanderson. Marcia was a 1956 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and long time member of the Ohio City United Methodist Church. She had worked at the Van Wert Board of Education, Continental Can Company and later owned and operated the Ohio City Hardware. There will be a graveside service at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Wilcox officiating. Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City United Methodist Church.
