M. Isabelle Schumm, 100, of Convoy died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Vancrest Convoy. She was born January 21, 1916 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of William and Grace (Hawkins) Wermer. They both preceded her in death. On January 22, 1938, she married Karl Schumm who survives. They were married for 78 years and are the oldest documented married couple in Ohio. Survivors include a daughter Ruth Ann Densel of Convoy; three sons Roger (Gloria), Bob (Carolyn), both of Convoy and Dale (Debbie) Schumm of Southern Pines, N.C. Other survivors include grandchildren Don (Amy), Schumm, Troy (Jodi) Schumm, Tom (Karen) Densel, Dave (Shari) Densel, Joy (David) Beck, Lisa (David) Schreck, Kathy (Pat) Will and Karen (Matt) Ringwald; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Bill Wermer of St. Marys; two sisters, Mary (Don) Honsberger and Martha (Jim) Clark all of Van Wert; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Wermer of Van Wert. Preceding her in death were a grandson, Gregory Karl Schumm; brothers, John (Pauline), Paul (Gladys) Wermer, Norman Wermer, Dave (Kay) Wermer and Karl Wermer; a son-in-law, Stanley Densel; and a sister-in-law, Fern Wermer. Isabelle was a homemaker and helped Karl on the farm. Her children will remember her as a hard working, wonderful mother. Her hobbies were her children, husband, family, playing the piano & organ, gardening and canning her fresh fruits from the family orchard. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Convoy; and 1933 graduate of Van Wert High School. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 27, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran, south of Convoy with the Pastor Michael Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Convoy IOOF Cemetery. Calling hours are from 9-11 am prior to the service at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Convoy. Preferred Memorials are to the "Redeemer Lutheran Hour of Worship" Church Radio Broadcast Fund.
