M. Marcile Matthews, 86 of Ohio City, died at 5:49 p.m. Friday July 22, 2016 at the VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born on March 5, 1930 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Elven T. and Edna Belle (Uhrick) Slane. On August 27, 1947, she married Frederick Charles Matthews, who preceded her in death on August 15, 1991. Marcile retired from Teleflex in Van Wert. She was 1947 graduate of Van Wert High School and a member of Ohio City United Methodist Church. Family survivors include four children, Gale D. "Rudy" (Ruth) Matthews of Ohio City, E. Wayne (Deb) Matthews of Ohio City, Joyce Ann (Walter) Theisen of New Bavaria, Ohio, and Ava K. (Gregg) Scheidt of Ohio City, Ohio; brother, Gerald A. Slane of Van Wert Co., Ohio; sister, Helen (Jerry A. ) Rolsten of Mendon; six grandchildren, Tim Matthews, Jamie Friedrich, Lorie Garwood, Tammy Theisen, Alysha Scheidt, and Jordan Scheidt; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, Ohio. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, Ohio. Memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
