Obituary

N. Louise Tingley, age 97, of Rockford, Oh, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 5:15 a.m., at Hearth and Home assisted living facility, Van Wert, OH. Louise was born December 27, 1917 in Ridge Township, Van Wert County, OH, the daughter of Alonzo and Lois (Swick) Gilliland; both preceded her in death. On July 21, 1940 she married James Tingley, who died March 29, 1992. She is survived by children; Larry and Suzanne Tingley, Williamsburg, VA, Marcia and Joe Fetter, Southport , NC, Craig and Kimberly Tingley, Celina, OH; granddaughters Jennifer Tingley-Sipe (Robert Sipe), Toano, VA, Rebecca Tingley, Los Angelas, CA, Jocelyn Meyer (Nathan), Celina, OH, Logan Tingley, Celina, OH; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Gale Gilliland; sisters Martha Curtis, Mary Klein, and Margaret Harmon. Louise's legacy is one of service to her family and community. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Van Wert. Along with being a hard working farm wife and homemaker she was a longtime 4-H club advisor, member of Mercer County 4-H Committee, Mendon Riverside Farm Bureau Council, Van Wert Twig Group II, Van Wert Woman's Club, and Van Wert YMCA Cuisine Board. Louise was a true horticulturist, who took great pride in tending her flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. She was well known for her budgeting and culinary skills. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, Van Wert, with Pastors Gus Christo-Baker and Paul W. Miller officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice or Van Wert First United Methodist Church.
