Lola Mae Holmes, 83, of Van Wert, died at 3:30 p.m., Sunday at VanCrest of Convoy. She was born on June 17, 1930, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late William S. and Elsie May (Speelman) Morehead. On January 25, 1949, she married Walter Dawes Holmes who preceded her in death on March 31, 2006. Family survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Herbert) Tamplin of Bellefontain, Ohio; a son, David (Sandra) Holmes of Traverse City, MI; one brother, William (Betty) Morehead of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Andrea, Zach, Katie, Jeremy and Emily; two step grandsons; a great grandson; two step great grandsons; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Morehead of Convoy and Lela Holmes of Van Wert. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Andrew Holmes and a brother, Paul Morehead. Lola enjoyed housekeeping and was know for her lovely home and her beautiful flower gardens. She was a care giver for several family members and friends throughout the years. There will be private services at the convenience of the Family. Preferred memorials are to the Miami Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
