Leon Whittington, 82, of Van Wert, died at 11:33 a.m., Monday, at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. He was born on August 25, 1933, in Denton, Missouri, the son of the late Emery Whittington and Irene (Siegler) Cora. On May 28, 1954, he married the former Emmaline Gribble who also preceded him in death on May 24, 2013. Survivors include one son, Allen (Theresa) Whittington; a daughter, Angela Jaylene (Bruce) Albee of Middle Point; one sister, Flora Bostworth; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one step grandchild; and two step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Jack Whittington. Leon was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and retired from Ohio City Manufacturing. He loved to sing and play his guitar. Services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill. Calling hours are Thursday 1 p.m. until time of service. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Liberty Baptist Church or the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center.
