Obituary

Kelly Brent McConhay, 57, of Willshire Township, died unexpectedly at 5:15 p.m., Friday at the Van Wert County Hospital. He was born on October 17, 1955, in Van Wert, the son of Shirley (Speakman) Couts of Van Wert and Daniel J. and step mother Sharon McConahay also of Van Wert. He married the former Mickey J. Army on August 2, 1980, and she survives. Other family members include his maternal grandmother, Audrey Jacob of Van Wert; three children, Shea Lyn (Nathan) Crass of Fort Mill, SC, Martin McConahay (fiancee Valerie Phillips) of Austin, Texas, and Casey McConahay of Van Wert; one brother, Kaury McConahay of Huntsville, Texas; three sisters, Kimberly (William) Torok of Delta, Ohio, Kristine McConahay of Stroh, Indiana, and Kerry (Jeff) Gudakunst of Grover Hill, Ohio; a step brother, Mike (Kathy) Priest of Payne, Ohio; and step sister Brenda (Jeff) Clark of Paulding, Ohio. Kelly was a 1974 graduate of Van Wert High School and he is a member of First United Methodist Church of Van Wert. He had worked at the Ream Steckbeck Paint Store in Van Wert, then owned and operated Kelly's Paint and Paper. He was currently operating McConahay Decorating. Services will be held at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 2 - 8 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Wren E.M.S. or the Lupus Foundation of America.
