Obituary

Kay J. Thompson Speck, 76, of Ohio City, died at 4:40 p.m., Tuesday, at the VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was born on February 1, 1938, in Rockford, the daughter of the late Audrey Juanita (Seger) Amweg and Paul Thompson. She married Howard Richard Speck in 1996, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2010. She is also preceded in death by her step-father, Raymond Donald Amweg; two sisters, Vicki Lynn Klim and Mary Louise Thomas; and a brother, Kenneth J. Thompson. Family survivors include two sisters, Janice (Ivan) Davis of Decatur and Brenda (Randy) Hartman of Van Wert; and two step children, Lisa of Indiana and Todd Speck of Bryan, Ohio. Kay was a 1957 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a member of the Ohio City Church of God. She had worked at Balyeat's Coffee Shop in Van Wert. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastors Randy Bevington and Kathy Fenimore officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 12-noon to time of service. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Association or VanCrest Health Care Center.
