John R. Cox, 71 of Van Wert passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on June 16, 1954, in Van Wert to the late Ervin Michael Cox, Sr. and Helen Irene (Fronefield) Cox.

He enjoyed working at Federal Mogul in Van Wert and his biggest achievement was making retirement. John’s hobbies included gardening, mowing and giving his brothers and his sister a hard time.

John is survived by two children, John P. Cox and Lisa R. Cox of Convoy and a brother, Walter L. Cox of Ohio City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ervin M. Cox, Jr. and a sister, Eva VanFleet.

At this time there will be no visitation or services per John’s request and burial will be at Woodland Cemetery at a later date.
