Joan Eddy, 85, of Van Wert, passed away at 1:03 a.m., Friday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on September 20, 1927, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Lewis H. and Wihelmina (Gombert) Myers. On April 23, 1950, she married Kenneth Eugene Arn who preceded her in death on January 16, 1973. She then married Wilbur D. Eddy on March 31, 1980 and he survives. Other family member include her daughter, Helen (Gordon) Fuerst of Delphos; two sons, Eugene (Drema) Arn and James (Diane) Arn both of Grover Hill; two step sons, Leslie (Judy) Eddy of Haviland and Stanley (Chris) Eddy of Delaware, Ohio; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Myers of Van Wert, Ruby Myers of Van Wert and Colleen Myers of Haviland; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis, Jr., Maurice and Thomas Myers and a sister, Caroline "Connie" Smith. Joan was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church for over 50 years and of the Esther Circle. She had worked at the Paulding-Putnam REA, the Farm Bureau Office and Aeroquip Corp. (Eaton) . She was a member of the Sugar & Spice Extension Club and she loved quilting, sewing, crocheting and vacationing in Florida. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2013, at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church will Rev. Rita S. Bair officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Creek Cemetery near Grover Hill. Calling hours are Sunday 2 - 8 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Community Food Bank through St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
