Jim Rickard, 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana entered into the arms of his Savior Tuesday morning, February 27, 2018 at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. Jim was born on November 16, 1932, in Ohio City to Arthur and Mildred (Mottinger) Rickard. He graduated from Ohio City Liberty High School in 1951 and also the Fort Wayne International Business College. Jim served in a clerical position in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the International Harvester where he served as a purchasing agent. Jim attended the First Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. Jim is survived by two sisters, Alice Heiby of Celina and his twin sister Joanne Waterman of Ohio City. He has two nephews, Greg (Ellen) Waterman of Ohio City and Steve (Gloria) Waterman of Rockford; and two nieces, Rhonda (Mike) Overman and Jane Heiby both of Celina. Jim is also survived by one great nephew and five great nieces. Two brothers-in-law, Glenn Heiby and Bud Waterman, and a great nephew, Brian Waterman, preceded him in death. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. this Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert with Rev. Cheryl Garbe of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the First Wayne Street Untied Methodist Church.
