Obituary

Jerry Dean Thomas, 71, of Findlay, died at 6:10 p.m., Monday at the Birchaven Village in Findlay. He was born on November 28, 1942, in Mendon, Ohio, the son of Raymond and Freida (Dilbone) Thomas. He had been married to the former Mary L. Thompson, now deceased and the former Nancy Glander surviving of Delaware, Ohio. Other family survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Bart) Fenimore, Kris Thomas, and Tammy Wieging, all of Findlay; a son, Jeff Thomas of Findlay; two step-sons, James (Danielle) Deterer of Ashley, Ohio and Joshua (Jackie) Deterer of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Ronnie Thomas of Arlington, Ohio and James Allen (Becky) Thomas of Convoy, Ohio; one sister, Pam Vannett of Delphos, Ohio; twenty-one grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelby Deterer; one great grandchild; and three brothers, Max McNutt, William Thomas, and Gene Thomas. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was affiliated with the College First Church of God in Findlay. He retired from furniture sales. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Chapel at Birchaven Village in Findlay. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday at the Mendon Cemetery with Pastor Bill Reist officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #346 of Ohio City. Preferred memorials are to the Bridge Home Health & Hospice or the Family.
