Jason Deloyd Straw, 91, of Ohio City, peacefully went to meet his Savior on Saturday January 2, 2016. He was born October 22, 1924, in Glenmore, the son of the late Richard Straw and Leona (Gehres) Straw. He married Betty June Rickard on July 3, 1948, at St. Mark's Church in Van Wert, Ohio when brothers married sisters; his brother Robert married Betty's sister Donna. He was a jack of all trades: farmer, truck driver, World War II Air Force mechanic and pilot, VP of Engineering, but most importantly faithful husband, caring father, loving grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He will be remembered as a generous man with an infectious laugh and a bit of a sweet tooth who enjoyed telling stories to share his life lessons. He loved seeing his family on every Sunday for lunches at his home where everyone was always welcomed (family and friends). He was a special man who will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Family survivors include eight children (and their spouses), Linda (Terry) Stukey of Ohio City, Anthony (Barb) Straw of Aliso Viejo, CA, Deb Straw of Van Wert; Kathie Straw of Ohio City, Dennis (Terri) Straw of Ohio City, Sue Tinnel of Van Wert, Karen (Doug) Droll of Van Wert, Jay (Jennifer) Straw of Grand Rapids, MI; one sibling, Beth Ann Davis of Port Orange, FL; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren. and one great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty June (Rickard) Straw, brother Robert Straw, son Douglas Straw and grandson Rusty Straw. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday January 8, 2016 at St. Paul's Church on German Church Road, rural Van Wert. Burial will be held at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery. Visitation will be at Cowan Funeral Home on Thursday January 7 from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salvation Army and Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).
