Janis Ann Owens, 77 of rural Van Wert, died at 9:19 p.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at the C.H.P.-Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born on July 19, 1940 in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul LaDoyt and Mary Elizabeth (Chubb) Eller. Janis retired as branch manager at the Commercial Bank in Delphos. Ohio. She was a 1958 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a member of the Middle Point United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, Delphos; member and former treasurer of the Church Woman United; volunteer for the last 15 years for the Van Wert County Hospital; involved with the chapel service at VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert; and faithfully visited the shut-ins at local nursing homes. Family survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Carolyn Owens of Van Wert; daughter and son-in-law, Diana (Bob) Kesler of Van Wert; brother, Raymond L. (Joyce) Eller of Rockford; four grandchildren, Briana (Adam) Geiger, Becca Kesler, Jared Kesler, and Brendon Kesler; two step- grandchildren, Dan (Christy) Jacks and Colby (Danah) Jacks; one great grandchild and five step- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell L. Eller in infancy. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 10:30 a.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Gary Ginter of Kingsley United Methodist Church. Visitation is scheduled for Friday 3-7 p.m. and one hour ahead of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, Ohio. Memorial contribution to the C.H.P.-Inpatient Hospice Center or Middle Point United Methodist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded at cowanfuneralhome.com.
