Janet Lou Hockenberry, 83, formerly of Scott, passed away at 12:19 p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Country Inn near Paulding, Ohio. She was born on October 29, 1934, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Remus E. and Grace Fern (Kinkade) Mohr. On August 15, 1954, she married Cloyd Richard Hockenberry, who preceded her in death on July 22, 2010. Janet was also preceded in death by two brothers, Doyl and Glenn Mohr. Janet was a graduate of Haviland Scott High School and received her degree in education in 1961 from Defiance College. She taught for 27 years in the Grover Hill and Wayne Trace schools. In 2016, Janet was selected to the Wayne Trace Staff Hall of Fame. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert where she had been active in the Crusaders Sunday school class and the Mary Circle. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Janet will be sadly missed by her two sons, Jack (Marjorie) Hockenberry of Wellington, Florida and Les (Lori) Hockenberry of Haviland; a daughter, Jill (Jeffrey) Allen of Graham, Washington; seven grandchildren, Caleb (Tifanie) Kreischer, Matt Owen (Anne) Hockenberry, Scott Hockenberry, Kylie (Michael) Davis, Kent (Aimee) Hockenberry, Aaron (Ashley) Hockenberry and Kacee Hockenberry; and six great grandchildren, Jaxon, Gavin and Leighton Kreischer and Logan, Bailee and Jaxon Hockenberry. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Calvary Evangelical Church with Pastor W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery in Scott, Ohio. Calling hours are Friday 3 - 7 p.m., at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert and one hour prior to services Saturday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Scott Fire Department.
