Obituary

Janet Charleen Ainsworth, 88, of Kingston at DuPont in Fort Wayne, died at 5:45 p.m., Friday at the Parkview Hospital North in Fort Wayne. She was born on September 14, 1925, in Convoy the daughter of the late Dewey and Opal (Knittle) Ainsworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two twin sisters, Arlene Dellinger and Ilene Hardisty. She is survived by a nephew, Bruce Dellinger of Syracuse, IN. Janet graduated from Wren High School. She learned to fly at the Van Wert County Airport and she piloted mail planes for American Airlines out of San Francisco, CA in late 1940's. During this time she was a roommate with Barbara Eden of "I Dream of Jeannie" who was attending San Francisco College at the time. Janet moved to Fort Wayne in early 1950's and later retired from North American Van Lines after nearly 40 years as a systems analyst and programmer. She enjoyed Bridge, Pinochle, playing piano, family, friends, neighbors and her cats. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Gebert of Mt. Victory United Brethern Church. Burial will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m., on Thursday. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association.
