James Rodger Wagonrod, 78, of Columbus, died at 7:15 p.m., Sunday at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 15, 1936, in Van Wert, the son of the late Esta Vernon and Carol May (Sullivan) Wagonrod. He was married to the former Rosemary Eileen Lane who died in 2001, and then he married Jean Ann (Hipsley) who also preceded him in death. Family survivors include his daughters, Denise (Bill) Friedrich of Delphos, Karen (Lance) Postelwaite of Defiance, Patty (Tony) Gardner of New Haven, IN and Diana (Glenn) Hicks of Convoy; ten grandchildren, Jacob (Ashley) Friedrich, Matt Friedrich, Rachel (Matt) Lopata, Drew Friedrich, Emilee Friedrich and Charity Friedrich, Tyler Postelwaite, Austin Gardner, Nolan Gardner and Brandon Gardner; and six great grandchildren. Besides his parents and two wives, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Gabriel Friedrich; five sisters, Joan M. Miller, Phyllis Nelson, Janice Mosgrove, and stillborn twins, Esta and Ester; and four brothers, Robert R. Wagonrod, Richard A. Wagonrod, Sr., William E. Wagonrod and Charles Wagonrod. Jim had worked at Bordens Foods and as a security guard for various companies. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Snyder of the Church on the Rock in Lima officiating. Calling hours are 9 a.m., until time of service on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Putnam County Hospice.
