James L. Agler, Sr., 85, formerly of Van Wert passed away Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2025, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

He was born on September 29, 1939, in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Willis Francis and Marjorie Berniece (Miltenberger) Agler. He married the former JeLaine Louise Stegaman and she survives of Van Wert.

Other family survivors include his two sons, James L. Agler, Jr. of Biloxi, Mississippi and Jerald L. Agler of Yellow Spring, Ohio; two sisters, Sandra J. (Donald) Stemen of Van Wert and Susan (Jim) Lindeman of Ohio City; and two grandchildren, Joseph Agler and Jade Agler.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Francis Agler and Steven A. Agler.

Jim was a 1957 graduate of Van Wert High School and served in the Ohio National Guard.  He retired from Navistar (International Harvester) in Springfield, Ohio.

There will be private services for the family and he will be laid to rest in Van Wert Woodland Cemetery.
