Hugh N. Fifer, 85 of Convoy, died at 7:25 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Van Wert Manor Nursing Home. He was born on November 1, 1931 in Celina, Ohio, the son of the late Jesse Andrew and Nancy Christina Elizabeth (Stoll) Fifer. On June 21, 1958, he married Ruth M. (Hatler) who survives. Hugh retired from Old Fort Industries in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Family survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Thomas A. (Linda) Fifer of Warsaw, Indiana, and Michael (Donna) Fifer of Convoy; daughter, Susann (Paul) Mitchener of Convoy, Ohio; brother, Dale Fifer of Payne; sister, June Laux of Fort Recovery; and six grandchildren, Jason Fifer, Heather Busby, Shaunda Fifer, Ryan Fifer, Dakota Mitchener, & McKenna Mitchener. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew J. Fifer, John Charles Fifer, and James J. Fifer; and two sisters, Marlene Presho and Effie Varvel Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, March 11, at 3:00 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Dale Jr. "Chip" Fifer. Visitation is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Interment is at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be to Alzheimer's Association.
