Obituary

Howard Dailey Jones, 85, of Willshire Township, passed away at 10:06 p.m., Sunday shortly after arrival at the Van Wert County Hospital. He was born on July 1, 1928, in Willshire Township, the son of the late Clarence Clyde and Ada (Fluckiger) Jones. On September 3, 1950, he married the former Joan Marie Clark who survives. Other family members include his four sons, Brent L. Jones of Van Wert, Douglas C. Jones of Ohio City, Keith H. (Marilyn) Jones of Atlanta, MI, and David C. (Rose) Jones of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, Shawn Jones, Benjamin (Nikki Staten) Jones, Nicole Jones, Jessica, Justin, Julianna and Janessa Jones; one great granddaughter, Briella Staten; one brother, Leon B. (Joyce) Jones of Defiance; an aunt, Florine Fluckiger; three sisters-in-law, Martha Jones of Ohio City, Marjorie Jones of Dublin, OH, and Lois Schoonover of Van Wert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Paul Eugene Jones, Daniel Clyde Jones, Floyd D. Jones, Lloyd S. Jones, and Harold Harry Jones; and three sisters, Wilma Josephine Myers, Madge Marcile Jones, and Pauline Kathryn Jones. Howard was a 1946 graduate of Wren High School and a member of Grace Bible Church. He farmed, operated the Jones Family Orchard, and retired from Aeroquip Corp. in Van Wert in 1987. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014, at Grace Bible Church with Pastor Lance Hostetler and Howard's son, Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 2 - 8 p.m., at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Friday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Grace Bible Church or the Wren E.M.S.
