Obituary

Herman Glenn Wells, 84, of Van Wert, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Sunday at the VanCrest Health Care Center. He was born on January 26, 1930, in Paulding County, the son of the late Lawson J. and Inez I.(Cotterman) Wells. He married the former Doris M. Moran on July 21, 1951 in Continental and she survives. Other family members include two sons, Dennis (Kimberly) Wells of Dayton and Randy (Martha) Wells of Van Wert; four grandchildren, Dawn (Chris) German, Amy (Adam) Benner, Bryon (Stephanie) Wells, and Jamie (Kim) Ream; a sister-in-law, Jackie Wells of Van Wert; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to he parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary; two brothers, Harold and Cleo Wells and three sisters, Katheryn Yearling, Dorothy Dilbone, and Lucille Dyer. Herman was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had retired from Kennedy Manufacturing on March 31, 1993 with over 23 years of service. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Middle Creek Cemetery in Washington Township where military rites will be conducted by the combined honor guard of the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Van Wert. Calling hours are Wednesday 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert council on Aging or the CHP Hospice.
